Loft Insulation.

Could you benefit from loft insulation?

Loft insulation is effective for at least 40 years and it should pay for itself many times over.

With about a quarter of all heat loss escaping through the roof, according to the Energy Saving Trust, it can really pay to have quality insulation fitted in your loft.

If you have old insulation in your loft, here’s three reasons it’s worth topping up or replacing it:

1 – It will likely be less thermally efficient than the materials available today. Replacing it with a modern material will make your home warmer and save you up to £225 per year on your heating bills.

2 – It may only be 100mm thick. The current recommended minimum thickness for maximum efficiency is between 270mm and 300mm, depending on the material used.

3 – It may have been damaged over time, for example by water, birds or animals entering the loft space. This will prevent the insulation trapping the warm air it needs to have an insulating effect and in the case of water could be damaging your home.
